Default Short Block Question

Hello All,

New here, but been lurking for some time proir and post purchase of a 2000 Disco II. This forum is great! Never had to ask a question, just a quick search always worked until now. I have a 2000 LR 4.0L short block with 73k miles on it sitting on my engine stand (long story). The two pistons closest to the firewall have damage to the top edge of them as well as the cyclinder walls. It would look to me like the block, crank shaft, and rods are all still usable. Not sure if I should post it for sale in the classifieds or take it to my local recycler. I hate to take it to the recycler if someone could rebuild it or find use in the crank or something, but it is in my way and it needs to go soon. Any suggestions or interest?

Regards,

Nick

See if you have a Rover club in the area, you could make someone
very happy.

Great suggestion! I will do a search for a local club. If anyone knows of one in the Western New York region, let me know as I am just outside of Buffalo, NY. Thanks!

Regards,

Nick

There are no visible cracks in the walls or deep gouges/scratches. More like scuffs on the wall. As for honeing or machining, not sure what the specs are but it looks possible. I could post some pics tomorrow. Like I said, hate to just recycle it as scrap metal. Hoping to find someone who can utilize it for a rebuild project or parts.

Regards,

Nick
