Should I Buy?
DO NOT BUY OVER YOUR BUDGET!!
If that means that you have to wait longer then so be it.
That truck will cost you at least another $1000 to be drivable, so that is $3700 for that truck.
Where do you live? How far are you wiling to travel to get a Disco? Do you need a Disco or just want one? What are you going to do with the truck? Daily driver or weekend off roader?
I have bought outside of my budget before, do not do it!
There are alot of nice used cars out there, it took me 9 months to find ther right one for me.
Take your time, drive a couple that are local and see if you even like them.
Have you looked at DI's?
Dealers will ship them for you. If you go to a local dealer and say "hey, I am interested in this truck can you find me one?" they will look for you and bring it to you.
But most of all DO NOT BUY OVER YOUR BUDGET and take your time.

1998 is a series 1 and very different then a series 2. I have had both and I prefer the 2. To the untrained eye they may look the same but the series 2 has over 700 changes from the series 1. With high miles comes maintenance issues. Maybe save up a little more and get lower miles. I paid 4200 for my 99, about a year ago. I got it at a jeep dealership. They did not know anything about LR's and just wanted it off their lot
Happy hunting

Like what has been said avoid the Disco II's they have too many elec/BMW
add on's that did nothing for reliability thats why in the US they dropped
the Discovery name and came out with the LR3 name.

I wouldn't avoid DIIs because they're known for electrical problems. They're known for these problems because there's too many people that go out and buy a Rover without knowing how to care for it. They don't realize you can't just put gas in it and change the oil when you feel like it. A little preventative maintenance will keep a Rover (DI or DII) running strong for 300,000+ miles. Obviously, it's not as cheap as the maintenance on a little honda or something, but where's the fun in a honda?
If you are a broke college student then get a DI. The little things that go wrong can usually be fixed in a driveway, most parts are cheaper and they last forever.
Either one requires premium gas, the DII will ride nicer but the DI will be cheaper on insurance.

Nope I'm not broke it just has to be under 2,600. So since its premium gas I'm gonna go poor .. (jokin)
But if i want to buy the black one, should i go take it for a test drive. Like dose anything look wrong with it? Or are the miles to high?

Well with only 3 pics and no real description it's hard to say.
Always test drive before you buy.
Send them a e-mail and as whats wrong with the truck. If they say that there is little or nothing wrong with it then offer them $2000.
They will counter offer, then its your turn again.
Then before you drive it home test drive it, if it is not what they said then walk away. You are in no obligation until you sign the papers to take it home.
