Default Should I buy a third amigo? Junkyard find

Was dropping my daughter off with grandma this morning and happened to pass a random oddball junkyard a few miles down the block. This place is very strange... They don't sell anything, they strictly crush and scrap cars, and are in the middle of nowhere sandwiched between nature preserves, probably totally wouldn't be allowed in this day and age but are grandfathered in

Anyway, parked in front was a clean looking d2. Stopped on the way back to see what the story was and the owner says that it ran well, needed exhaust gaskets, and I can have it for 600 dollars.

I can see it needs a windshield and are a few dents on the front door that look like PDR can take care off. Paint should clean up pretty well and looks good aside from a few scratches. Interior good, minor drivers seat wear, a tiny bit of headliner sag. Doesn't seem to have any leaking issues as it smelled clean

Under the hood looks decent, no major leaks, oil was clean, tiny seepage around valve covers. Coolant was replaced with the green stuff so I'm hoping this means the head gaskets were done at some point. Battery was dead so I couldn't see how it runs or the mileage. Frame rust was minimal

He agreed to hold it until Monday so I can jump start it and see how it runs. I was going to bring my scanners and abs amigo in case there are any codes.

So the question is, for that price do I save it from the crusher, even if I just wind up fixing it up a bit and selling for a few hundred bucks more? My wife was totally against it at first mention, but I brought her down to look and when she saw it she felt bad and said we should rescue it. Worth mentioning that I have two project d2s and a project Freelander in the driveway along with our regular cars so space is limited

Opinions?

It has a blown head gasket, not in need of exhaust gaskets. Don'tbuy it.

Where's the scrapyard? I'll be there this morning.

You're going to have quite the collection if you do! Just curious - do you do your own PDR and if so, what do you use?

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay, I've been working on trying to resolve a stupid misfire in the freelander. I went to the junkyard this morning, diagnostic equipment and tools in hand. When I walked in the owner told me that someone had already put a deposit on it, so I guess they saw the potential that I did. Hopefully it goes to a good home

Unfortunately I have now been bitten by the bug and can't stop looking for these things. A nice one popped up on letgo yesterday and was gone by the time I looked this morning. It's killing me!

If the disco runs well buy it, and put the freelander body on it

I have a complete 04 Disco 2 but it rolled on passanger side.

I swapped the cdl and abs mod with my 01, but its complete and runs well wth 130K miles. It has 2" OME lift, new radiator, water pump, hoses, breakes, track rod and drag link and seems to be wel cared for. I bought it for $550 just for the CDL and abs module.

any one interested in it or parts?
