Default shut down

I have a 2001 discovery that I can't get into. My key first of all will not open the driver's side door, and the remote is broken. I had roadside service to try and get in but they all failed. I called Land rover and they said that the car is in super shut down mode. I tried going through the window with a rod to push the unlock button but it won't work. Finally I was told that if a new key didn't work I'd have to break the window. Well my window is broken and I still can't unlock the car. I pull up the door lock and it snaps back down. has anyone ever experienced this??? What can I do? The dealer wants to charge $992 to replace the door handle. Can someone help???

Unfortunately, you are experiencing what Land Rover calls "Superlock". The only way in is, breaking a window.

I'm not familiar with this feature, run a search and I'm sure you'll find a ton of info. Or just hang tight and someone will offer advice on next steps.

Coors is right - search for "superlock" or "superlocking" and you should find the info you need to correct it. It may not be inexpensive given that you don't have a keyless remote but a grand ($) seems like a lot to pay.

And when you're ready to replace your window let me know; I have an extra I need to sell.
