Default LR3 GPS/Radio shut down due to overheating

Hello - I was wondering if anyone else has problems with their gps/radio shutting down due to system overheating - as best as I remember the warning on the gps stated - "overheating - system shutting down at this time". The gps and radio shut off - came back up 10 - 15 minutes later. It happened twice that evening.
My husband and I had been travelling in the LR for a two maybe three hours - the weather conditions were windy and really cold. We were traveling on gentle hills - night time and had the heater going. The LR itself did not overheat. (probably TMI - sorry..)
I have a 2007 LR3 that we have just recently bought used - I don't have any of the history about it.

Anyone have any ideas? The gps screen was really really warm to the touch - the radio didn't seem unusually warm tho.
I would appreciate any ideas about this.
thanks!

take it to the dealer, depending on your vin we might be able to reprogram a few modules. it wont be cheap but it might fix the problem.
