Side mount jerry can mount for Discovery 2?

I have a wife, two kids, a dog and a stupid cat. Bugging out during a hurricane would tax the interior space of the Discovery as it is. I don't think keeping them inside will really work for me. I do appreciate the ease of that solution, however.

I have mine set up on my rear-tire (bumper mounted) swing away. It takes weight off the cargo door.

Before I had my rear tire swing away, I mounted the iRack on the spare tire carrier which was directed mounted to the cargo door. I was able to carry a Spectre 5-gal fuel can. Caveat is it does place additional weight on the cargo door.

I find the idea of the rear tyre swing away mount interesting. how much easier is it to open and close the rear door? What did you use for the mount?
