SLABS CDL swap no start headscratcher
sometimes, after messing with the BCU and alarm (key fob) and ECU, I have to mate the BCU and ECU 'again' to get the car to start. If the EU mechanic had all the software, he should have been able to do this. Yes, nanocom can do this. But I did not have to 'mate' any computers after installing an updated 04 SLABS module or the 04 shifter mechanism in my 01. if you plan on keeping your disco, nanocom is well worth the ~400$... Plus it's plug and play....easy to read screen and menus...
Thanks for everyone's help and direction, I did finally get this sorted out. With the old Nanocom MSV-2 I was able to go in to the BCU settings and change the setting for passive immobilization to "disable". Alarm key disarm is set to "always". This allows the vehicle to be started with just the key all the time. I was also able to turn my heated windscreen and fog light functions back on! So that was cool.
I have not figured out how to get my fob working again. There is a setting for "passive coil" that is set at "not fitted". Other option is "fitted" and I am going to change that next to see if it re-activates the fob. Then I have a fob from another D2 that is in better shape and I have the bar codes for that I would like to try to activate. And a cheapo ebay fob that from what I see in the forum looks like generally they just don't work. Stay tuned!
