Default Small accident, body damage

My 13 year old daughter is learning to drive. She’s doing great so far and using my D2 to learn in. Tonight she wanted to pull it out of the back yard, and I agreed, which I should not have. She scraped the gate post, popped the entire gate off the hinges, and caused the body damage in the photo.

She is ok and I’m not worried. This is why we are using this D2 to learn in rather than my BMW! Anyway, given the body damage…what are my options? I’ll get a better photo tomorrow.

Maybe try a local paintless dent repair technician. They can do wonders with aluminum body panels, for low cost.

Another option is to find a breaker who has that same color truck and swap the panel. It’s pretty easy to do. Then you only need to deal with the dent on the door.

I would look for replacement panels. D2's are not abundant in the local yards where I am but there seems to always be one or two.

Agree, I just went through the exact same thing. 16 yo hit a car, the quarter panel takes 10 minutes, in my case i have the hood with a pretty good dent. Still have an eye out for a matching but it is cosmetic. The door is a bit more work to replace, but a repair will be much more. It does not look bad, maybe polish and touch up?

Or, just leave it until she is a better driver? Its bound to happen again.

Try Will Tillery for a replacement fender / wing in that color.

I'd replace the fender.
Repair the door.

The fender can be removed and replaced easily... just grunt work to remove the wheel liner and then the fender bolts. This pic should give you an idea of how it comes apart.

Rave has pretty thorough directions if you need them.

Average body shop charges about $1,200-$1,500 to repair that damage
