snow chains and traction mats
So I'm hoping to attend this year's Maine Winter Romp. Last year was a lot of fun but the snow proved to much for even the most experienced die hard rock crawlers. A highly modified Chevy snapped a drive shaft I think and there was a lot of "standby" for the lot of us folks who were closer to stock. I had no tire chains or traction mats and all in all my D2 handled itself alright but twice I had the pleasure to be recovered by Granddaddy Series Rovers
Did some research on snow chains for my D2. Found Pewag, RUD and Ottinger to be among the top rated brands but alas my unique tire size provides me with less options. 235/85 R16 Mud Terrains. Not looking for those cheap rainbow colored **** on the market but also don't feel like investing another $300+ for chains. Im thinking $100ish per pair for stainless steel or Nickel mangan steel. What do you guys suggest? Experience preferred.
On another note I just ordered a pair of "MAXSA Innovations 20333 Escaper Buddy Orange Traction Mats". A knock off of the official MAXTRAX. Might I be alright without the tire chains this year?
