Default Snow Tire Swap Question Disco II

Just started swapping out my regular tires with 4 Nokian Hak w/studs for my 2000 Disco II purchased from Atlantic British. They are 16 X 7 and come with new lug nuts. I have set one tires on car and noticed that after screwing on the new lug nuts, they only screw on3/4 way. There are still visible threads in the lug nut eventhough it is screwed on as far and tight as it can go.They are tight, but seem as though they could be screwed on another 1/4 of an inch.

Has anyone purchased a second set of rims (16inch) and encountered this problem? Is this normal. AB isclosed for the weekend...already tried calling them. Any helpappreciated.

Thanks

Are you using the lig nuts for the steel wheels? Or the normal lug nuts?

I am using the correct lug nuts that were matched to the rims. Everything was purchased from Atlantic British. Have driven the car for a few days now with no issues so i assuming its ok....

I am not sure if you ahve heard about assuming, but I wouldn't. Call AB and tell them what you see and verify if this is right or not because it doesn't sound right.

You CANNOT drive with the lug nuts loose, your wheels will fall off and you will crash and burn.

Ouch.

Talking about lug nuts. I bought steel lugs from AB and they are rusted to hell and less than 4 months old. I live near the beach though. Is this normal? I'm going to call them this week. I'm kinda ticked because they're brand new and I hate, hate, hate rust.

If you live near salt water then yes, that is normal.
I think that I would buy a can of Rust-O-Leum and paint them myself.
Or find a shop to powder coat them for you.
If you put several coats of clear coat on them after you paint them they shouldnt rust so fast.
