Default so first things first,,,

will do a oil swap to amsoil synthetic. i run it in the duc and the fcar.

will look at the coolant, but will wait till i do the 60k service on the rig before swapping to dexcool. again i run it in my other toys.

look into getting the joints replaced with zerk joints.

anything else?

also a large rubber mat in the back for the mutts. i hate trying to vaccuum dog hair out of carpet[:@]

You most likely already have dexcool (pinkish red) coolant. It is however an excellent idea toreplace the dexcool, as apparently it is in part responsible for the head gaskets problem in the way that...as it gets old, the chemicals start eating awaythe gaskets. So fresh one is a good idea.

They say that dexcool should be changed every 3 years or so?!?!

Do NOT wait to change the coolant, LR recommends chaning it every 45,000 miles or every 3 yrs, which ever is sooner.
So CHANGE IT this weekend.
Unless you are doing a complete flushand fill then stay with DexCool, if you do a complete flush and fill then you can use any of the other aluminum safe coolants.
LR's have a all alumimum engine.

if dexcool is ok to use and it is swapped every few years then i will stick with it. i like it. are the water wetter products safe to use on these motors? i use them in my bike and car, but i have never heard of so many people talk about head gaskets going *** up. why do these things eat em up?

I have never used Water Wetter,I think it is a gimic, if you need a additive then you need a new fluid.

As for the DexCool, it is acidic if not properly maintained.
It is my opinion that people dont change it every 45,000 miles like they are supposed to, it becomes acidic and then eats the gaskets.
DexCool is a 150,000 mile 5 year coolant under the rightconditions. But people dont think about coolant, and those that do know that it is supposed to last 150k so they dont worry about it, until there is a problem.
I used to sell bulk coolant and I will not use DexCool. Neither would my customers.
If you are going to stick with DexCool then I would change it every 2 years no matter what.
It's alot cheaper thannew head gaskets.

I use Peak Global Lifetime Coolant 50/50 premixed. It is aluminum safe and will mix with any coolant.
I still change it every 30,000 miles, even though it is warrentied for life. Its cheap insurance.
