So since I've owned my Disco I've never had any dash lights come on, even though I'm pulling codes from the engine and my HDC has always been on. Finally fixed my Amigos problem yesterday and now I have working ABS and TCS, but the TCS light still does not come on when engaging, or when I first start the car. I figured a bulb might be burnt out?

So I take out my cluster and open it up to find this. . .
Yes, that is black paint poured down the openings for the various dash LEDs, presumably by a PO that wanted a quick sale.

Seems like SO much more trouble than it's worth, but I guess I'm not a sleezy son-of-B so I don't think like that.

Not a big deal anymore. I was easily able to get a screwdriver down in there and scratch the paint off the tops of the LEDs. They're still a bit dimmer than the other lights, but they all light up now.

 

Wow. Just amazing.

Interesting side note: While cleaning out the car after I bought it I find a receipt for some various things from... Guadalajara. I'm now having images in my head of some truly 'three amigos' driving the Disco, running drugs across the border, and them not being able to find any Land Rover dealerships in Mexico to fix the problems with they popped up.
