Default So... what is it that makes your fan lean over

into your hoses and serp, and tear them up as it goes past?

Well, I got a week out of it...

A locked up or disintegrating fan clutch can do it.

Bad water pump, when the bearings go they cant hold the weight of the fan and clutch.

Yep. I'll bet on that, though I don't have a decent flashlight around to check. Crap.

On my Blackberry, it's the movie camera app; it turns on the "flash" LED. But it's not the most reliable approach.

And Jeezus, water pumps are pricey.

Before you buy a pump, pull your serp belt off @ check for play then.

If the belt is on, it'll keep the waterpump shaft from moving.

I removed my bad fan & ran my D1 for a week without overheating while I waited for my $75 (2) 12" fanset to come from summit (works great)

luck,greg

No; the top of the fan tilted back out of the shroud towards the engine, and tore the serp to pieces; it's hitting the hose there.
