Sold my 03' for an 01 land cruiser.
Pulled the trigger and purchase an 01' immaculate 70k mile toyota land cruiser. Already looking at an ARB for her. Amazing how nice this vehicle is. I will my surely miss the 03' a bunch but still have my 04' to keep me busy and the wife won't let it go. Surely not as nice looking as the Disco but as you get old this becomes less important I guess. Guess I need to join another forum now!!!

Like this one? I had an '01 LC for a company car. When I handed it off with 175k on it, the oil still came out about the same color it went in after being changed at 6,000 mile intervals with conventional oil. It only required regular maintenance items and the 2 front O2 sensors, which by the way were the easiest ones to replace that I have ever done. The thing is still in regular use with over 300k on it and it still runs like new and doesn't use any oil. They need the timing belt changed every 90,000 miles but given the age of yours you should probably do it if it hasn't been done yet. The aged rubber belt will probably be somewhat cracked by now. The '01's had a problem with the jbl amps shorting out. If yours is bad, it will sound like crap. There's a Tsb on it:
Tsb Au001-01
Title: Excessive Bass (boomy bass, JBL amplifier)
Models: '01 Land Cruiser
Introduction: A new JBL amplifier has been designed for the 2001 model year Landcruiser to address customer concerns regarding too much bass and/or the inability to reduce the bass output level in the sound system.
Production change information, starting VIN: JTEHT05J#12009229
Applicable warranty: This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
Mine was way out of warranty but they gave me a rebuilt one for $100. It is under the passenger seat and takes about 20 minutes to replace.

I hate to say it but Land Cruisers are the best - there is no comparison. They just run and run with no problems. I've had 3 and put tons of miles and hard use on then and had virtually no mechanical faults.

4.7L correct? How does it compare in power?
I have been looking into selling our other car (07 Toyota Solara) and getting a Sequoia/Land Cruiser...really want the 5.7L that came out in 08.
How much did you get it for? It amazed me to see how well the Land Cruisers hold there value....and the biggest reason i am leaning toward the Cruiser is they have a stronger following on the forms than the Sequoia....(i.e. more people to help me fix things that break...like the rover...then again nothing would break because its a Toyota...cant argue with that......)

Oh she is BIG!! But with the rack and pinion steering drives like a camery. Its not a great trail truck like the Disco in my opinion. Still think the Disco is a great truck and looks better then then Toyota. This will allow us to take some long family trips without me worrying about something on my 100K 04' Disco going south.
