Yep sounds like they want to instantly total it out. I am honestly about to just cancel the claim, save my $$$ say kiss my *** insurance companies, and fix my Land Rover myself. Then drive it one time and start this all over again.....

We pay insurance $$$$ for years never make a claim (20 years in my case) and boom someone hits me and I get bent over a post for it... Not my cup of tea.

I feel like putting a tow strap on the rear door, pulling the tire out from the door some, finding a bumper cheap and saying adios.....

If it was a dogged out CL wonder sure I'd say come get it, but I want to keep a classic LR alive and on the road with a clean title.

Someone rear ends a guy and the payback might not cover repairs. I think an acute onset of pain to the neck has just occurred requiring "additional compensation". :-)

Yeah no kidding. I was a little sore but it was me putting my foot on the ground trying to stop which I did!! Only to hear BOOOM!! 2 seconds later...

Not sending this flawless interior to scrap!! I mean I have owned Rover's since I was in my early 20's and I never had mint seats, mint condition wood skateboard, PRND321 shifter film, non peeling dash, and everything works down to the ignition switch light!

She's as close as we can travel back in time to 1998 when Land Rover was about being the best 4x4 by far! It still smells new inside too!

I did find nearly 2k worth of receipts on tires, exhaust, cats, starter, muffler, and I still need to hunt down the lift receipt.

Also send them pictures of that interior, tell them about it being garagekept, etc. Appeal decision to next level of review. It really does help to talk to the adjuster and get his best number, then go over his head.

It isn't a forced sale, after all. Someone can't destroy your property and then take it away! You don't have a contract with the sorry ford drivers insurance.

I wouldn't send that to the scrapyard either.

I sent the dude the darn window sticker showing 39K back in 98 along with good shots of it inside/out. Of coarse watch the buy back if they salvage it climb due to my pics... Would be my luck vs some CL torn to shreds with a goat living in the back.

They use Edmunds and other rags to determine values but those are AVERAGE. Yours is above average.

I think the salvage value is pretty standard. Almost by the pound.

Thanks for all the info!

I am sad, but at the same time I am happy as I just grabbed a clean running (needs head gaskets) 03 for 850.00 that was just inspected last month with good tires, and then it started leaking coolant. After all this crap with my 98 I figured for 850.00 it's my spare body/frame/clean title if something happens to the 02 Kalahari. My wife is gonna go off her rocker, but oh well ya can't ever change that lol. I plan on picking it up this Sunday.

I will not let the 98 go, so if it goes to a Salvage Title I will get all my receipts out that total over 2K and talk it out. I don't plan on selling it, but it just pisses me off a bumper and spare tire mount = totaled. The world we live in is truly insane. No Prius is gonna slip into my yard!!!
