Some updates - Pics
I've been away from the board for a while, so I thought I would post some updated pics of my 03 Disco II. I had several upgrades done over the last couple of months, so check out the pics and feedback is always appreciated.. My Disco is an 03, just turned 80k miles and is my 2nd vehicle...
I had the headliner replaced, went with black because I love the contrast in colors. I finally replaced my factory front bumper with a custom built "Pre-Runner" style bumper built by Suncoast Fabrication in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. While it was at Suncoast I had it lifted with the 2" Spacers and the Disco will be headed back soon to add the Terra Firma 2" Springs and shocks for a total of 4" of lift. I'm waiting on my 3 - 9" LED lights to arrive and install them on the Pre-Runner bumper. I also had a custom cross member built to allow for clearance of the front drive shaft after the 2" springs are put in to avoid it hitting when the front end is completely extended.
It still has the factory sized tires on it, so it looks a little weird but I wanted to wait until we get the lift completely done before buying new tires...

Looks good. I'm also a fan of the goin back with the black headliner. I can't wait to see how it looks with the 4inches of lift along with tires and lights on the front. Post some more pics when you get your lights in and on.
I removed that crossmember personally, as a lot of others have as well. I am creating a custom one that drops lower under the drive shaft for that particular issue though.
What DC rear driveshaft are you going to run? And ABS lines, brake lines, radius arms?

We went back and forth about removing the cross member but Suncoast is a full fab shop and the extra couple hundred bucks to build a custom cross member seemed like a cheap and simple solution instead of removal.
As for the rear drive shaft we have talked about stripping the factory rear axle and turning it with custom built trailing arms to pivot the rear axle to relieve the driveshaft since there is no u-joint at the rear axle and go with a custom made drive shaft if needed. The ABS and brake lines will have to be made once the truck is at it's full height. We also threw around the idea of swapping to Unimog axles...
When I decided to "go big, or go home" with the Disco I bought a new Tundra as a daily driver so I can continue my building of the Disco...
We have access to a set of the 404 Unimog axles, with front and rear steering....but I think that might be going WAYYYYYY too far..

Looks awesome! I think if you change the roof bars to the 04 it would look even better. They are a direct fit. Just hard to come by. See them on Ebay every so often. I put some on my 00 D2. Really like the way it looks.
Haha that'd be intense. If I was going to do any axle swap, it'd probably be Volvo C303 portal axles. Portal axles are an amazing way to get your diffs and axles higher without larger tires.
