Default spacer questions

Good morning to everyone! I hope all of you and your families are doing well

I have never done spring spacers but recently i acquired a set of 2in spacers with no bolts from a friend! my question is what size and how long do the bolts need to be for the front and back? I could take mine out and go to the store and just get two inch longer bolts but i wanted to have everything ready when this is started.

I do understand that spacers are not the best or preferred for heavy off roading but I do mostly on road driving and when i do go off the beatin path its nothing more than a scenic route and that's rare. I do have a new set of terra firma all terrain +2 shocks that will be going on at the same time. also picked up from a dear friend! (Thank you guys) so anyone who knows the length and size of these bolts needed for this please help me out here.

Thanks again to every one that participates on this board the wealth of knowledgeable Is greatly appreciated. I fell like I can help people out in most cases but when i need a answer i am thankful I have you guys to turn too.

I dont know exactly but can wager a guess. Thinking aloud, 2" spacers would need atleast 2" grade 8 bolts. Plus the length of the spring perch. Which i would guess is approximately ½ to ¾. 3" bolts should suffice. Make sure you use nylock nuts.

Someone correct me if I missed something.

Depends on the design. If the spacers are solid, you'd probably need long bolts, if the spacers are more of an open design, not so much.

Just realize, with a fairly warn out factory suspension, adding 2"s of height makes your now top heavy D2 even more top heavy with less stability on the curves.

x2 for Disco Mike on this one. I have a 1" spacer in the rear, and would not go with more spacer for highway stability.

Hmmmm well the shocks are new +2 TF'S and the springs were replaced less than a year ago with factory springs because I had no intention of lifting it then. Now I am going to add new +2 shocks and 2 inch spacers not sure what else you think I should replace? Anyway these trucks don't just roll over... you have to roll it over yourself ie driving like a jack ****, going to fast, going up inclines at precarious angles. Swerving to go around something that if you are not following to close you should have plenty of stopping time. That's what causes any vehicle to roll over. So saying that a DII is a high roll over vehicle would be silly because it all boils down to driving habits. And now back to the original question about the bolts they are Toddco spacers with the front shock relocation. If anyone has a idea of what size bolts I would need I would be very grateful for that info!

You can do whatever you like to your own rig, obviously. I'm just saying for the benefit of other people reading this that in my opinion a 2" spacer without adding any suspension travel will result in an ill-handing truck.

I am installing terra firma +2 shocks dude. And it would only affect travel on LARGE bumps and mainly off road driving. With newer springs and shocks it should not affect how your truck handles on the road much at all. The affects would be noticeable if you just stuck spacers under old squashed springs that already have a sway to them. So you should replace your old warn out springs maybe you will get another inch and you will have a much better handling truck. Of course adding spacers to old saggy springs is not a good idea and from what you've said that's what it sounds like you did.
