Default Spare tire carrier needed

Need info/link to a currently manufactured spare tire carrier for a 2000 Disco 2 to hold my stock rims with a 35" tire on it. I had the stock carrier reversed but the weight + the bouncing = broken carrier. Prefer metal/steel for replacement.
Thanks!
PS - before you beat up on me too badly I don't have the service to do a site search... I tried and failed. :/

Not aware of a "currently manufactured" carrier that will match the existing bolt spacing/pattern on the rear gate. Have you considered just going the eBay route or your local pull-your-part?

eBay Search Results

I'm not sure you're going to find anything that will take a 35" (really?) tire though. My inverted stock carrier just barely allows for 33's. Your spare may be headed for the roof...

I guess ebay will do and add the relocator from AB
Spare Tire Relocator For The Discovery Series II

I think you just have to re-engineer to add more bolts to secure it. Mine had to be re welded few times. It squeaks a lot when cracked.

I'd call Atlantic British (or Lucky 8) just to be sure. Most of the relocators/adapters are good for 33/34" tires. 35's might still drag on the bumper.

You're not gonna find a pre-fab unit for 35s. The relocate won't work because you're still using the stock carrier.

Buy another carrier or have yours welded back together, keep the flipped orientation, and have some reinforcement welded in.

I had the same problem you are experiencing. When I went with bigger tires I ordered the relocate unit from Atlantic British and it worked well but the underlying carrier finally cracked and the squeaking metal was driving me nuts.

I saw a beefier carrier on here and contacted Lucky8 (they have it on their website). I was excited until they emailed me back a week later to say it was out of stock and no longer being produced.

It's made in England so I started looking around and found it online at www.devon4x4.com Ordered the unit from them (wasn't sure if they were gonna email back and tell me it was no longer available or not) and about two weeks later it showed up at my door.

Cost me $131.97 all in and I couldn't be happier. It's about twice as thick and solid as hell and my tire rides much higher than it did with even the extension plate from Atlantic British.

If they have it I think it will be just what you are looking for.

^^^ The D44 carrier is the way to go. I had them in stock for a while, haven't been able to get them lately.

That D44 carrier looks nice. I saw this one out of Australia too. But with shipping I doubt it's worth it. APT Raised Wheel Carrier | Discovery 2

Seems like someone in the states could make this easily enough. And demand seems high enough for it to be worthwhile. Who has a fab shop?
