Default Spark Plugs

How often do you all change the plugs in your D2's?

What plug have you had the best results with?

I try to change mine every 20-30K if I remember and probably longer if the UG is not showing. I observe that sometimes misfires tend not to show again on UG. Platimum are the ones for the disco but Iridium works fine as well. Ive used them both. I cant really tell which one is better.

Currently 15K on Champion platinums. Prior to that, NGK iridium for 35K prior to failure.

I do NGKs every 25k or so. I actually like the copper plugs better in this engine, but both work.

It depends on what plugs are used.

The copper Champions a genius mechanic here installed years ago lasted only 13,000 miles.

The factory maintenance schedule shows a 120,000 mile interval for the double-platinum Champion 7070s (RC11 PYP B4), although I don't expect anyone waits that long. I now have 50,000 miles on the 7070s in my truck and they're still going strong.

There are dozens and dozens of threads about a question you didn't ask -- which plugs are "best"? Bosch. NGK. Iridium. All I know is that I'm getting great results from the 7070s.

I'm running Bosch platinums, just the regular plugs, not the +4s or whatever. I've seen 3 mpg or so increase over the old plugs. I plan on changing every 50000 km or so

50 thou seems to be the sweet spot for my Champion copper plugs in '96 D1. Sorry not your exact application, but no one else answered today. I tightened them up a bit from 54 after driving a while and a bit of research. Spec is 35, and that functions well too.

you really shouldn't need to or be gapping IX (irridium) plugs...if the gap is off, return the plug for exchange.

I replace only when they fail, no matter if 100,000 miles. Running Bosch 4418 +4 platinum. Unobtanium now.
