Hi, I have a 99 Land Rover Discovery and the spark plugs are getting so dirty that eventually it won’t start. When I take them out they seem burn like if they were passing to much gas, or something. I have to clean them like every week so that it could run smooth. If anyone knows how to fix it,please let me know. Thanks

 

What is the mileage on your truck, what octane gas are you using, what plugs and wires?

Well I just put a New engine of 67 miles, I believe. The old engine has 149 miles. About the plugs they are champion and I believe the wire are leoni.About the gassometimes I switch from regular unleaded to the middle one. According to the chartof the web above,the spark plugs look like they are to rich in air/fuel. Also the they smells like burn gasoline. What could be the cause of that?

Ya best to talk to Mike cause that could mean several things. Maybe your fuel pressure regulator is shot. Are all the spark plugs in the same black condition or is it just some of them?

 

I'll put $5 on it being unburned fuel carboning up the engine due to a low octane fuel....

Seafoam and new plugs/ Magnacor wires. 91 or higher fuel

 

How could i fix the unburned fuel carboning up. Changing to supreme fuel should do it?

 

You have to always run 91 or higher octane in discos. Or you'll do heavy damage in the long run. Always run 91 or higher.
