Default speed sensor trouble

1996 disco 1

while driving on the highway every once and a while my car will lose power for a second and then come back almost like i would take my foot off the gas, it started doing it horribly the other day for a few hours but has quit since then but i figured i should fix it. Ive already posted a post about this and i was told it was the speed sensor or the fuel pump but ive ruled out the pump. Well i went to the local LR dealer to check out a new sensor and the lady said there was many speed sensors but it was probably a wheel speed sensor. When she walked back and checked with the mechanic she then told me that she could not sell me the part unless i knew the exact name or brought it in for them to service it. Well i then asked if they were checkin it for free since she wont sell me the part and she said nope 85 an hour plus maintenance charges. I laughed at her and walked off but i guess my question is does anyone know the exact name to this sensor so that i can get it replaced. thanks for the help

Gar,

It is called the Road Speed Transducer. It is mounted on the transfer box. Retails for $110 US.

Sounds like you are getting the run around from your local dealer. Try Rovers North or Atlantic British.
