There's always something goofy when I work on my Rover!

I was trying to remove the driver's seat on my 2003 D2 - there are 4 torx bolts - two are towards the front and two towards the rear.

All 4 bolts are are 7/16 (or 11 mm) torx bolts. The two in front came off no problem. The 3rd bolt (close to the center console) also came off with no problem. But the 4th bolt (rear and close to the driver's door) would just keep spinning.

And no, I've been using tools for many, many years and I did not turn it the wrong way.

How would you handle this problem?

Wedge a flat screwdriver under the head and pry up as you unscrew with a Torx driver.

 

i just removed my seat a couple weeks ago to replace the heating element.

That one bolt has a nut on the underside of the floor, a 17mm IIRC.

Hopefully you do not have rust to contend with or it could be a pain.

Are you serious? Do you mean I could crawl under the vehicle and see the nut attached to that bolt which goes through the chassis?

There is a lock-nut on the underside of the body right under the bolt. use a wrench to hold it and undue the bolt on top. I just took the seats out of my 2000 Discovery 2.

I went under my truck a couple weeks back and found the vise-grips still clamped to the nut from when I pulled my seats to work on the heaters, a year and a half ago.....

 

yes strange that 3 of the 4 bolt have fixed nut but the rear out is just anormal nut needing a spanner to hold it that LR for you keeps you on your toes
