ive read that a common problem was the battery and I’m 99% sure the battery is good. It’s fairly new and clean.

no codes....

any ideas?
One of the more common symptoms that the XYZ switch is having issues is that it won't recognize that the vehicle is in reverse, at which point it will go into limp mode because it doesn't know what gear it's in. Check that the right indicator is showing in each gear. If it goes into limp mode only when you're shifting into R, and everything else shows as fine, you should probably take the XYZ off, clean it and reposition it.

ive seen plenty of videos and write ups on taking it apart but noting on removing it which im hearing is a Pain.
Unbolt the bracket holding the shifter cable and you can move the entire assembly aside, which makes everything much more accessible. Otherwise you're going to spend two hours trying to disconnect the plug.

Only the D is blinking... and it won’t go into 1-3. Reverse does not blink.

UPDATE:

So I ran down to the auto parts store last Sunday and they didn’t have the correct transmission code reader. That being said. I decided to clear the code myself with my own tool (I KNOW..I know..) anyways.

since then I’ve driven the rover about four separate trips for an estimated total of 20miles and have yet to get the indicators back up.

Drives normal....

ive been careful with my shifting but that’s about it.

thoughts?

I truly think this is the key.
When I drive my Disco, I step on the brakes and then slowly shift into gear. I never have a problem.
When my wife drives my Disco, she stomps on the brakes, let’s up off the brake pedal early while slamming it into gear and punches the gas. She gets the 3 bongs, 4 amigos, a flashing m & s and limp mode. I then get a crazed lady calling me screaming that my Disco is a piece of .

there should be a thread titled “what did your wife do to the disco today”

everytime she drives it it’s something new... the hood pops up, the sun roof buttons don’t work, half a tank of gas is used, etc. lol

but yes I was rough on the shifting when his happened. I’ll keep y’all updated...

I noticed my lights dim when I press the window buttons and when I start the rig, so I might need a better battery too.

I’ll change the transmission fluid soon.

Well it happened again! So yes I spoke to soon.

i cleared it and drove it home (again no issues driving) only during shifter use does it trigger.

i did stop by the local landrover shop (NOT THE DEALERSHIP) and they said they could check it out for $130 bucks and tell me what’s wrong.

I think I’ll just buy my own tool on amazon.

someone mentioned the foxwell NT530, so I’ll order that... I’ll wait a few hours Incase someone knows of something better.
