Default Squeaking Coming from A/C??

Recently there has been a little squeaking sound coming from the passenger side of the truck. When I turn off the A/C (or heat) it goes away, so obviously it realted to that. It does not make the sounds all the time, but it for some reason when I push the accelerator it starts the squeaking. It does it on all levels of fan power... It there a fan or belt i should check realted to the A/C on the passenger side?? Is it easy to get to.

I just need some direction on what to look for!! (If i need to clear anything up or give a better description, let me know.)

Thanks!!

How old is your belt? turning on the a/c adds resistance, and hitting the accelerator adds more. see if the squeak is intermitten or continuous. If it only chirps every revolution on the belt, you may have gottne something on the belt, or it needs to be replaced.

PS, I am envious of the snow you might be getting...

Its intermitten as in it doesnt do it from when I turn on the A/c to when i turn it off. But once it starts squeaking, it is continuous. How easy/hard is it to get to the belt?? Im gonna look on the RAVE cd to see where it is.... I'm guessing its just getting old because i havent changed it in the 3 years ive owned it.

I really hope this storm hits us. They're saying 4 inches for sure, but up to 10 if it hits just right. 4 is alot for Asheville, 10 would be crazy! It would be a great way to start off Chirstmas break with a nice white blanket of snow.

I've had the same problem for some time as well, but in my case, it is coming from the blower assembly. I removed the cover for the blower under the glove box, and sure enough that's where it was coming from. May not be the same problem, but worth giving it a look.

yeah, change the belt. There is just the one belt. Mine lasts a couple of years on average. If you look on the ribbed side, it will be cracked, if there are more than 2 in an inch, or any chunk is missing, it is toast. At 3 years, though, I would change it

Come on up to NE PA its about 21 degrees here so you wont have any a/c issues!

If it is a belt squeak and based on your mileage, I would suggest you replace your 2 idler pullies and the tensioner pulley, cause they all tend to fail squeak and then come apart.

haha, unfortunatly it does it with the heat as well, just the fan being on causes the sqeaking. Mike, thanks for the tip, ill go ahead and replace all that while im at it.

Here in Asheville they are calling for 8-16 inches today and tomorrow, it will be our biggest snow since 1993 if it happens! We are at 4 inches right now and its still coming down hard!! I love it.
