wooo hooo! just picked up a new pump assembly from the store, well its not new, salvaged, but it works! primed the pump a couple times and she came to life! ran nice and smooth!
only problem is that my fuel pump (original) had the evap unit on the top ( with the hose and sensor hookup) and the new pump does not.
so i can take the new pump and put it in the old assembly, the new regulator too, make sure to diagram and replace the wires correctly, make sure not to damage the plastic hoses, work around the sending unit, blah blah blah,or...

leave the new assembly without the evap unit hooked up

or
drill a hole in the new assembly for the old evap sensor to fit snuggly in ( obviously not while it is still in the tank)

thoughts? suggestions?

my father in law suggested my rover may have initially came from california. mine was a single owner before me from somewhere in the south ( i think) but i was wondering if there could be any reason for that. he says its bc it has the evap unit on it and california is so strict.
im going to drill out the hole for the unit just to be on the safe side.

well shes is back running! the new assembly didnt have the evap sensor hole but it did have the position tabs so i just drilled out a hole myself. plugged the sensor unit into the hole, plugged all the wires up and we r back on the road.
im going to drive around for a couple days before going gettiing another scan to see what codes pop up.
speaking of codes, i had one that said secondary air. i think it was p1886 but i cant remember.
