Default Steel wheels

I know I've seen a thread or two on steel wheels, but here goes again...

I really like the looks of the black steel ones that are available from various vendors. What's the deal? Are they good on road, off road, both, neither? I do minor off roading at present but am equipping the truck for more aggressive off road driving. Are these wheels appropriate? Have thought about painting or powder coating stock wheels but decided it's too much of a hassle...

The steel wheels are fine off road.
And because you have a DII get a set of these too.
Wheel Center Cap - Steel Wheel (Genuine Part # DTC100810) - Land Rover wheel accessories from Atlantic British
You will also need lug nuts for steel wheels.
RovahFarm - Parts for Land Rover Cars and Accessories - Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover, LR3, LR2, Land Rover Defender, Freelander and Land Rover Series has the best price on the lug nuts.
