steering box play
Once you get the box worked into position it'll rest securely on the chassis. From underneath there's just a little fussing to get the first bolt aligned, but you can (and I did) do that part by yourself. Took me maybe 3 minutes of wiggling the box to get the first bolt threaded and the rest were no problem.
back in florida for the winter. I bought the input shaft and lower sector shaft seal kits. I'm about to tear into the steering box and seal this sucker up so it does not leak. Watches mike (britannica restorations) videos
3 times on doing the strip down and rebuild. built the tools for taking the piston out and doing the backlash testing. should be good to start this now. long delay.....
I'll post pics of the progress along the way and ask stupid questions when I get stumped.

If anyone has taken one of these boxes apart, when taking the sector shaft out you have to loosen the top screw cap (held in with a grub screw) which loosens tension on the rack.
Some of the boxes use a snap ring on the end of the piston to hold it in place. On the box I have the hydraulic line goes into the bottom with a fork shaped piece that presumably
holds the bottom end cap in place.
Has anyone ventured taking this style box apart? The manual I posted above uses the snap ring style connector. Likely an aftermarket box I guess...
