Default Steering Box and (seems like a thing lately)

been having a whining pump and loosing fluid. Tried to do the snake oil sealing thing and now all hell has broke loose.

So, replacing pump, reservoir, hoses, and steering box.

Question? Rebuild the current steering box, remanufactured box, or a new one?

Also, saw all the Pain in the *** videos of separating the drop arm from the Steering box. Going to just replace both. Any good recommendations for a drop arm replacement with the new ball joint already pressed in?

Wife said she had to turn the wheel 6 times to get from stop to stop when I was under looking for where leaks were coming from. That tells me the steering box is probably shot.

I DO NOT want to tear all the way in to replace everything and then have to replace the steering box again.

Used box generally works pretty well. I just put a used box in a cuatomer's disco a couple months ago. You get the benefit of the box already having some fluid in hard to reach places, and the arm is already installed.

What did you pull it from? Year, mileage and demise?

Found some old threads mentioning Meridian as a good rebuilder. Not sure if that still holds true:

The one I installed came out of a parts rig I purchased. Had ~130k miles when it was parked. Motor troubles I believe, though it was already about half parted out when I got it so I don't know for sure.

Anyone recommend a source for used or refurb/reman?

Does Abran still part out D2s? That's a possibility. There's also Paul Grant and Will Tillery.
