Steering help
I’m still building my 2003 LR D2 trail rig.
On removing the steering knuckles to change out the ball joints I damaged the tension collets. The joints are all pressed back in. I went with MOOG ball joints.
RAVE says the collets come out and torque to 3.7 Ft lbs. I pulled the left collet out. It screwed out. The threads are shallow.
I have collets inbound from the UK. No special tool is referenced in the RAVE. On postings reference a tool for insertion. I think the D2 and P38 differ in that the P38 may warrant a special alignment procedure.
will the new collet just screw in? Do I need a special tool? Thoughts?
