Default Steering Issues

Hello! I recently took my D2 to Death Valley and had 0 problems, drove it 2 weeks after with no problems and then one day while doing a U-turn, (wheels not fully turned as I'm running 32's that rub) and I heard a loud POP. After the noise I was no longer able to turn fully to the left but could turn more to the right and less to the left. I'm not sure what caused that but I took it to an alignment shop and drove around just fine for 2-3 days until I heard a snap. Now anytime I turn the wheel 1/2 turn I hear a snap/pop noise. the noise happens when I'm driving or in park and try and turn. It seems to turn fine but I haven't tested it farther as I don't know if this could possibly cause me to loose steering while driving. The power steering/ACE isn't leaking either. I If anyone knows what's wrong or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!

My guess is the same. Sounds like a CV is on the way out. I would guess the shop would have seen a torn boot but maybe it was damaged on the DV trip and is now complaining.
