Range Rover's like the P38 had optional half leather/wood steering wheels. I saw a half leather/wood steering wheel in a Westminster D2 at the dealership once, but I have no idea if it was a special order from the UK or what.

I prefer the pure black wheel as the multi colored ones eventually look like crap at the 12oclock position.

Another option if you really want a wood steering wheel. ES300 Steering Wheel Products

Link says es300 but it's a D2 steering wheel.

Yeah I bet that's where that steering wheel I saw came from. I would love a carbon fiber one in my Kalahari, but I'm not paying the $$$$ they're probably asking for it. I'd have to just insure the steering wheel for theft vs the entire LR.... Sad...

I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm going a different route. I'd like to add steering wheel heating to my wheel and since my 40 watt laser cutter is due to arrive in two weeks I'll cut myself new leather. Of course laser cutter isn't required, but we did get it for leather work, so what the heck, I might as well use it to replace the worn through wheel. Seems like a lot of one handed driving was done in my D2.
