stock CDL removal...how to remove pin?
Mine looks slightly different then this, but its the best picture i could find online thus far. The pin that holds the stock hi/lo cable to the armature... how does it come out? I figured it would be like the ebrake pin and clip, but there doesnt seem to be a clip, nor a nut or the like. Is it just stuck, or require twisting or a special tool? the back side is not visible but it feels like its covered by design, like it would have to be cut off...?

The pin is a pin/clip in one. once the pin is installed you twist it
and the clip fits over the round part of the cable. sometimes the pin gets
frozen in the hole and the clip portion will not rotate off the cable.
PM me. If your still in Long Branch NJ, I'm a couple minutes away

A BIG thanks to Mike for all the inovation and work, the D1 shifter is now in and working! Just drove it down today to get the 3" terrafirma kit installed
Things future attempters might wanna know thats not listed on those damn internet guides:
The breather lines and hoses on the D2 are in the way with the new shifter installed, remove it and ziptie the lines out of the way, not big deal, just something to know.
The plate you drill the riviets out of, will NOT fit back under to be refitted unless you REALLY do alot of cutting. On the advise of Mike, I remounted it on TOP instead of under, but since there is no rubber gasket on that side, I sprayed the edges with rubberized undercoating and used black rtv to seal up the bigger edges.
I removed the upper cover plate and screws because they stuck up too high and would require even more trimming of the plate to remount. I put some bearing grease on the internals of the shifter.
The sound deadoning/insulation material you peel out that fits around the shifter ontop of the plate has to be cut open to allow up/down-left/right movement of the new shifter too, thus the there is now considerable amount more noise in the cabin... its rather substantial, even with the rubber boot/gator AND the leather gator reinstalled on teh shift lever. I'm thinkin up some ideas now on something i could mount underthere to quiet it down.
The bending of the hi/low lever wasnt (or atleast didnt appear to be, thanks again Mike!) a vice and pliers and you could hand bend it... more alignment was needed then thought to get it to angle correctly to push the lever, at first the angle was too wide and the torque simple bent the linkage rod instead of shifting the transfer case.
Thats about it for now! Once I get it back with the lift installed I'll pull it apart again to see if I can remedy this roadnoise issue and seal it up better.
