Stop me before I buy again...
There is a '96 Disco that a guy wants $550 for to get it off his trailer. He said the engine "has a noise." Even if it has slipped a liner is this worth it? I took a look by flash light tonight and the frame looks good as do the axles and such. Some rust in the rear door wheels by the rear wheel well (typical.)
I haven't heard it run (dead battery) but should tomorrow evening. Even if it sounds like crap it still seems like a good deal.
The doors open and close well. Radio is ripped out. Looks like the rear left window doesn't go up.
Oh, and at least three of the tires are good
Any thoughts? I'm sure their are many.

You just acquired a '98 disco one month ago that probably needs at least a grand. I can see getting it to part out, Or if you have a wife/kid or someone else to drive it. But you have a truck, getting another just means twice the money you will have to dump into your cars for the same thing.

So, these are my thoughts after sleeping on it.
My wife and I both love driving the Disco we just bought PRO
It would sit in the garage taking up space till I could get it up and running again. Which realistically could take months and months CON
A parts vehicle is handy PRO
Storage of said parts vehicle isn't CON
I like projects PRO
Wife likes spending time with me (a pro for me, but not the truck )
Its only $550. IF I sell the tires and couple other choice parts and scrap the rest I should come out ahead. But that was what I was trying to prevent from happening when I thought about buying it.
I will definitely update everyone after I hear it run as to what I decide. That way someone else can take a shot if I don't.
BTW I have a parallel post on another Forum. I just wanted you guys to know. I'm sure some of you already noticed.
Thanks for the input.

After thinking about it, I just don't have the time to even look at it.
Here is the Craigslist listing if anyone is interested.
