Default Strange noise

I have a 2002 landrover discovery TD5 and recently I have noticed that after a longish run (usually on the motorway) as I slow down a loud whining noise can be heard. It is worst when turning bends/corners. Even when the car is stationary when you turn the steering wheel it makes the noise. Does anyone have the same problem or know how to solve it. It gets worse as the engine warms up as it doesn't happen(or its a lot quieter)when I first start the car in the mornings or whenI leave work.
Thanks
L

Check your power steering fluid level. Sounds like it is low, once the fluid gets hot it cannot do it's job as well and the noise that you are hearing is the power steering pump.
It might be a good idea to have the poweer steering fluid changed, top it off before you drive it though. You dont want to burn up the pump.

Thanks, we checked the fluid level and it was fine. I had it in to a landrover specialist and it's the power steering pump that is at fault so she's going in for a bit of TLC to have it changed.
Thanks again

That was gong to be my next suggestion, if the fluid level was fine then it is the pump.
