Default Strange smell

Just recently if I slow down or even stop, upon acceleration I get the wierdest smell. Doesn't smell burnt, doesn't smell sweet, it smells like( you ready for this? )beef jerky. I'm not kidding, honest, it's a mild smell but I'm pretty sure this '99 Disco II didn't come off the line smelling like this. Any ideas?!!! - RR.

If it smelled like rotten eggs, would be the cats.

Could simply beer fungus etc that builds up on the interior Aircon evaporator, they need to be cleaned once in a while. You can buy treatments in a can that you simply spray into the intake and follow the instructions etc and it kills all the nasties and leaves a fresh smell. More important on a Disco than most modern cars as it has no pollen filter.
