Stuck diff stick
I have a 1999 Disco and I went to go off road. I needed to use low gear however I can't get the stick to move out of high. I have never used low gear or locked the dissa either, I am not sure if the previous owner had either. I just plainly won't move. I know better than to force it. Any ideas on what it can be?
Yeah they are very stiff if not used. Sometimes shifting to reverse and letting the car roll slightly backwards can help too. Make sure the main trans is in neutral when actually trying to move the lever, it will take a bit of "grunt".
Good Ole WD-40 worked to get it to move. however I can't get it to go over to the diff lock position. I have tried to make it shift over from both nuetral, low, and high but no luck. Any ideas? It is highly possible that I am doing something wrong. I have owned several 4 wheel drive trucks in my life but this is my first land rover.
Is it stuck in high, or does the diff lock not work? The remedies for the two problems are different. In my 96', it would not shift into low, and turned out to be the safety lock pin in the transfer case was broken.
Origionaly the stick was stuck in high. I sprayed some WD40 on the mechanism and it will now easily move from high to low. However, when I go to shift into the diff lock position I can't get it to move to that position.
