Default Stuck rear door

So I had my rear door apart and back together. I swung it shut sort of half assed and it latched half way with a quarter inch space open. Now I can't get it open. The locking mechanism stays in the locked position. I can't think of a way to get this open short of cutting the hinges. Anybody come across this?

If you remove the door panel you can get at a lot of the mechanisms. I recently had mine off to replace the spare wheel carrier and while cleaned and lubed all the door parts.

Did you try the ol' 'take the green oval' off and grease the heck out of the mechanisms with WD40? I doubt you have gunk in there if you just disassembled it all prior to it getting stuck though..

You tried the inside lever too, right? What happens when you hit the unlock button on dash or unlocking drivers door with key? And yes, lube the living daylights out of the outer portion, known issue.

It is not a sticky handle situation. All was working fine till I took the actuator out to clean up. I put it back in and noticed the lock lever would always spring back into the Locked position. I accidentaly let the door close and it got to the "half-latched" position. I have tried everything to get it open but no luck. I currently have the motor and battery out but i will try it with the battery in.

This is hard to explain, but there is a lever on the actuator that you can get to with a pry tool. It’s at approx 9 o’clock at a bit to the front side of the actuator.

if you can trip that it will open. I had the exact issue.

Do you mean 9 o'clock inside the door frame? Or that little child safety lever on the outside?

I wanted to finalize this thread for future people who encounter this problem. I found the trip lever thanks to Abran and got the door open and fixed.

The black piece I am pointing at needs to be pushed down. It got shoved out of whack when I put the actuator back in after servicing.

The kiddy latches cause more trouble than they are worth. They are a real 'nightmare' so I usually cut them off with a junior hacksaw. Ain't got any small kids now and if they want out of the D2 just jump out of the window ............... preferably whilst stationary!
