Default Stuck in water transmission is in limp mode

I will try and make this basic. I have a 2000 disco I blew out my front and rear diff 4 wheeling and had both replaced from a 2003 disco. The weekend I got it back I went back to the woods for some fun ended up stuck in a river and water came into the interior about 6 inches. I left it running and had got winched out. The next morning as we were driving out from camping about ten feet from where I was pulled out the m and s lights started flashing and I was stuck in 3rd gear. I tried replacing the transmission range sensor. I took mine apart and it was dry inside. I tried a couple used ones that were supposedly good and now have a 2003 range sensor in which I'm not sure if it reads different. I've tore the center console apart disconnected all of the connections to transmission and transfer case and blew them out with air. I replaced my abs pump because someone told me it would throw the same code. Still in limp mode. I've had all fluids checked and there good. Finally after 4 weeks I took it to land Rover. They say I need a new transmission. The other code is a pressure valve A in the transmission. Basically is the issue that I have different gearing from a 03 that caused this or could it be a fault in wiring. Any help would be great and I apologise for all of the confusion

Did you check the trans ECU? It's under one of the seats, can't remember which.

you can swap in a used one without coding.

If the M&S lights are on and you are in 'limp home' mode having been submerged in water that deep sounds very much like the autobox xyz switch or it's connector has taken on water or possibly the transmission ECU inside the truck.

What codes are you getting? You mention getting two, but what are they? This may help some. But, I'd go with the Trans control module under the drivers seat (checking for waterms damage)...since you've already changed out the XYZ switch.

Cracks me up, Land Rover in it's infinite wisdom...mounted the amp on top of the Trans module...so it won't get wet. I guess having good tunes is more important than moving...lol.

Good luck, hope you figure out the issue soon.

Brian.

I can't remember if it always throws a code when it goes, but you should also check the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Mine went into M and S flashing limp mode and it turned out there was oil on the tip of the sensor. Somehow it had dripped its way back there, gotten under the heat shield, and worked its way in. Easy 4 bolts to pull that out and check it.

At least you can play the CD player when you are stuck in the middle of the lake

Thanks everyone. After 3 different land rover specialists and finally the dealership telling me I need a transmission. You all came through and it ended up being 50 bucks for a new ecu. Problem solved! Wish I came here first

Thanks again for the advice. It was the ecu trucks running great again. One more question. Is the xyz switch from a 2003 ok in my 2000? If not I have the old one and can put it back in
Thanks
