Default Stupid question!

Im about done with my head gasket job and Im getting ready to put the rocker cover gaskets on and I didnt pay attention to how they came off. Im pretty sure that the ridged side goes to the cover and the flat side to the head. I just want to make sure before I put them on.

One more thing, should I put any thread locker on the cover bolts? I know they always seem to work there way loose.

The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Yes put thread lock on the valve cover bolts, I mean Land Rover uses it on every bolt, including the valve covers...that what you call irony!!

I have no idea how the valve covers go back on.

How long did it take you? Any unexpected obstacles?

I'm getting ready to tackle this in about two weeks.

Or maybe I'll get a root canal instead, not sure.

Thanks guys. I figured the gasket out, there's really only one way to put them on. As far as the head job goes, make sure to warm the truck up and then start the job by breaking the exhaust manifolds free. After that its pretty straight forward. I used a breaker bar with a 4ft pipe on it to break the head bolts free. Hearing those break loose will make ur butt clinch. Other than that just get some oven cleaner and a **** load of brake cleaner.
