For the final conclusion, all is fixed! Both sunroofs were misaligned and wouldn’t shut fully, so I removed my sunroof motors and adjusted them with an allen wrench to the proper position as shown in RAVE and the picture posted above, though they were just slightly off. Then I removed the four glass screws for each sunroof, pushed the track all the way to the closed position with a screwdriver, then reset the glass and screwed it in—an annoyingly tricky task—and after reinstalling the motors, the sunroofs shut very firmly against the new rubber seals.

Now the headliner and all the trim goes back in. Soon this saga will be over.
