If you are going to install that on the roof rails of your D2: they are way to short for SUPs and the capacity is only 110 lbs (66lbs off-road)! I got a set of Surco DGM100 gutter mounts and made my own roof board/kayak mounts from Supertruts (galvanized strut channel from Home Depot). I carry one kayak and 3 boards on it. It is very sturdy and the struts do not bend. I'll upload some pictures later, so you can get the whole idea.

I have two 11' boards. Don't think they weigh 35#'s each though. Thanks for the reply...looking forward to seeing what you created.

Seems Disco doesnt get how those mount.
You just need crossbars.

Those are nice because they lock and strap all in one device making it MUCH easier to load and go.

Carrying 11 foot boards on two crossbars which are only 20 inch apart is not a good idea imho. Gutter mounts are the safer solution. Ignore the Yakima ski rack (it is removable, still on there from winter). The spacers between the gutter mounts and the cross bar are not required, these can be left out while you can still open the sun roofs. I just installed them because I have a small cargo rack which attaches to the stock roof rails, so I need more vertical space. I found some rubber hose which I used as cushion to protect the boards and boats. A hose with the right diameter sits very tight (was hammered in) and doesn't come off. The boats and boards are tied down with cargo straps. I removed the metal hooks and the slings are hooked onto the small horizontal bollards (made from threaded rods, aluminum tubing, nuts and washers).

Fully loaded. No problems in wind, some mountain passes near the bay can be very windy. Ratchet straps are doubled for additional safety. Inner tubes from bicycles prevent the straps from humming.

Twist the strap at least once to prevent the strap noise.
So it's not laying flat anywhere.

I had tried that before, but it didn't solve the humming completely. Just put inner tubes on the straps, and they will never hum again. They also provide better grip on the load as well as protection for the load and for the straps themselves. Used ones are for free at local bike shops.
