Default Sync the ECU to a new stepper motor?

Ok so I saw something about synchronizing a new stepper motor to the ECU mentioned in passing in the threads, is this something I should try and if so how do I do it?

I recently replaced my stepper motor and no change to high idle. Have tried every other suggestion regarding vacuum leaks and cleaning the throttle body etc.

Don't tell me, let me guess only the dealer can do it!

Thanks,
Alan

Ok, I wont tell you.

You need the proper computer equipment to talk to the ECU, if you dont have it then you cant do it.

Thanks Spike, i kinda thought that would be the case but wondered if might just be a case of unplugging and reconnecting the ECU or something, oh well.

This is something that you don't need to do with an IAC.

Before going to the dealer, try disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes.

On a DI, yeah you do.
We have had 6 people replace their IACV on their DI's, 5 had to have the ECU remapped for the new stepper motor.
