Default Time for a new stepper motor?

I'm thinking it might be time for a new stepper motor. When I start up, it goes to 2000rpm for a few seconds then drops to 1000rpm then slowly goes back up to 1700rpm. It will stay there no matter how long I let it idle, but if I shut the engine off then immediately start it up again, it will idle at 900rpm. I removed it and sprayed it down with carb cleaner, as well as inside the intake, but no difference. So, I'm thinking I'll either replace it or get it back down to low idle and unplug it. Suggestions welcome.........

You can try unlugging it and seeing what happens.
Really sounds like a vacum leak though.
Check the tube that goes to the drivers side of the throttle body, it clips to the t-body, if it leaks it will cause high idle.

Thanks... I'll check that in the morning. If I unplug it and it still idles high then I definitely have issues!!!

I didn't see any cracked hoses. Sprayed ethyr around to make sure, but no change in idle. I'll unplug it but I'm sure that will affect it at a cold start. I'll probably replace it though... I don't like putting it into gear at such a high idle.

Got the new stepper motor tonight....
Now for a stupid question... is it "plug-n-play" or is there a re-learning procedure for it??

You should be fine with your old gasket.
