Ok so last oil change I put in synthetic oil, my rover indy. mechanic said it would last 10,000 miles in most cars, but for the rover he would only recommend 7,500 (at most). As we all know, Land Rovers have a different "personality" when it comes to certain things. So my question is how long would you trust synthetic oil in your disco to last? Its been about 5,000 since my last change and I want your take on when the best time to change the oil is, even if it is synthetic.

Oh yeah, I would also like to know what brand of synthetic oil is the best in your opinion.

5000 with synthetic and 3000 with regular oil along with a good oil filter of course like a Mobil 1 or a K&N 3001.

 

I agree... I'd never go more than 5000 without an oil change. I'm sure the synthetic oil loses some of its beneficial properties after a certain amount of time anyway.

 

no, it just gets too dirty.

 

I use Mobil 1 15W50 Extended Life Motor Oil and chage it every 5000 miles.
It can be found almost everywhere. Wal-Mart is a good place for it. 5 quart jug for around $22.
