Default t.box leak?

My 2000 Discovery II ( 109,000 MILES) was losing about 1 cup of coolant per week and there is a burning oil smell around the front of the car.I took it to our local Nashville dealer and they diagnosed the following:

"T-BOX LEAK, THROTTLE PLATE LEAK, FRT. TIMER COVER LEAKING COOLANT BADLY, OIL PAN, RADIATOR, HOSES, INTAKE, REAR HUB SEAL LEAK."

They said the rear hub seal was very bad so we fixed it first for $409 . ( $270 labor and $100 parts).

I went to my local repair shop, Nashville Autohaus, and they did repaired the Throttle plate leak for $260.

But they said that the gaskets are seeping oil ( I can see it) and recommended I get rid of the car because of how much it will cost to repair those leaks. They didn't say how much.

Currently I am still losing a about 1/2 cup of coolant per week and the oil level does not seem to change although the smell of burning oil is still there and appears to be from oil dripping down to the manifolds.

I'm a little unsure about what to do as the local dealer has been inconsistant with his recommendations and my local repair guy admits that he prefers to work on BMW's and does not own the latest Land Rover diagnostics?

Despite this, I love the car and 109,000 miles does not seem like too many to me? I usually keep my cars till almost 200,000

If anyone has any suggestions for my next move please let me know.

Youy need to stop going to different shop to have thing fixed till you learn more about what is involved. *** an example, the coolant leak you spent $260 on has parts of around $20 and you can replace them in just over 1/2 hour out on your drive way.
Call me at 303-862-7680 and lets talk before you stimulate the economy any more.

Mike-

Thanks for your help with these questions. I sat down with my wife and went over all the things you had told me about how to make our Disco happy again.

She wanted me to ask you about one other question.

Recently she began to notice that when we have heavy rains here, the next morning there was a small puddle on the floor passenger side?

Have you seen that before?

Thanks again

2 possibilitys, leaking seal on the windshield or a plugged or disconnected sun roof drain hose.
We will have to talk some more on this one.

Mike-

Glad to hear that the water drops in the oil cover are minor.

Meanwhile the oil seepage around the valve covers is very noticable since I deGunked the engine. Please tell me how I can tighten down these covers. It looks like some kind of Torx bolt.
