Default tail door won't open

Sometime over the summer something happened to the rear door of my partners D2. It won't open & I need some help. Here is what is going on:

Rear door will lock and unlock with the fob, and the key lock.

Rear door will unlock with the rear door inner door handle.

The outer door handle will move freely, it just doesn't unlatch anything. It isn't stuck.

I took off the logo on the back door and sprayed it with lube for good measure, no change.

I pulled back the interior door trim panel and tried to manually move levers and linkages hoping to get lucky. No dice.

I am unsure if the child lock is on or off.

Advice? It has been too hot lately to crawl in the back and do too much, but it's going to be cool this weekend, so it's one of the things on my hit list.

You need to spray lube the mechanism up under the outside handle and then use a screw driver or small pry bar to pry the outside handle up to reset it (you will hear it click). Then just work the lube in and lubricate it every 6 months or so.
