The Tale of Two Bad Mice
Last month when I picked up a Disco 2 it had been sitting in a yard for two years. Upon closer examination after getting it home, I discovered a mouse had made a nest in the air box using the hood pad for nesting material. Yesterday I was took off the center console to clean it up and dound that another mouse had made a nest behind the E-brake. This one had used bits of yarn, foam, and - pink feathers. I was amused until after cleaning it out the mouse had chewed off the insulation to several wires! No breaks at least and was able to cover the wires with liquid tape. If that doesn't work I have a replacement harness on standby.
I have a friend who works at a local auto dealership and he was sent to a service school....they were told that the wiring used in todays vehicles has a soy based component in the wiring insulation.....and the little bastards think is smells like food...
I camped overnight in the desert west of Moab, Utah - I later found that the local mice had made a couple nests in the engine compartment using the hood pad and leaves in just that one night.
Busy little jerks.
