Default Tanny fluid change question

Should I change the fluid when it is warm or cold? I always change my egnine oil hot so everything is in suspension, but not sure with the tranny.

Thanks

Won't make much difference, since you will not get out the quantity that is in the torque converter.

Thankyou sir. That will the project tommorow. Hopefully those little pumps from autozone work like they say.

I've used them on the diffs and transfer case, worked good for me. My D1 takes fluid from the dipstick hole, not same in D2.

If you're going to change the filter, I would do it when it is cold. That way most of the fluid will have already dripped back down into the pan and it may not drip on you so much when you have the pan off. If you're not changing the filter I would do it warm.

THAT PUMP BLOWS.......sorry but I went through two of them in one fluid change because I couldn't find an alternative. the first one leaked from half of the seals..and yes i assembled correctly. The second one must have blown something on the inside and refused to pump any liquid after the first few strokes. If anyone knows of a better one. no matter the price please speak up haha

Search fluid pump - Grainger Industrial Supply

MSC Industrial Supply Co. | Find Power Tools, Hand Tools, Machine Tools & More

Start shopping, let us know what you find, I too would like a good reliable hand pump that does not break the bank.

Do you know how to refill the tranny, it is a 2 step process, first fill is with the engine off, then start the engine shift from drive to reverse, leave in park with the engine running and refill for a total of around 5.5 quarts give or take.
