Default TC question???

Had this question posted in my DI vs DII thread, but got no response to the question it self just DI vs DII. So I figured I start a new one

Well it been a long time since i posted!!! I have been looking the whole time and think I might just get my DII this weekend Here's the run down tell me what ya think???

2003 Land Rover Discovery SE - Java Black Exterior/Black Leather Interior. Original owner, non-smoker. Dual sunroofs, dual climate control, power seats. 147,600 miles. New power steering pump, new brakes, new front shocks, and new crossbar for steering. Also had the crank sensor problem repaired at 53000 by dealer

Has all repair documentation

The only thing that bugging me is this, quoted from his online post where I found it....Only issue is the Traction Control sensor requires replacement. ABS light is tied to that light, but ABS works fine. The truck runs fine without the traction control and has been running that way for the past 4 years. Could he have done damage to the system by know??? What actually happens when you lose the TC in a DII???

Do a search for the 3 Amigo's.
No nothing will be harmed by the TC light being on for a long time.

TC and ABS are all part of the SLABS. Without knowing the codes the truck is getting it is impossible to say for sure, but it is very unlikely that the ABS is working if the TC isn't...this might be as simple as replacing the shuttle valves or an ABS sensor, but it could also be something worse.

BTW, no traction control means that the 4x4 you're looking at buying could effectively end up being 1 wheel drive if you're in the snow or mud and 3 wheels start slipping. Since the 2003's don't have the locking Transfer Case, I'd keep looking unless this is at a truly incredible price. (In contrast, with a locking Transfer Case, you can maintain drive to at least 1 front and 1 rear wheel if the traction control fails.)

You are having this truck checked out by a good independent Rover mechanic before you buy it, right? They should be able to tell you what's up with the traction control (among other things) if you have one do a pre-purchase inspection...

Better double check the ABS and HDC (and CEL) lights come on when the key is turned - mine didn't - the jackasses I bought it from had taped over the warning lights.
