Hey ZG, I installed a TF med duty +2 kit on my 2000 D2 last year. The front springs come loose when the truck is picked up to have the tires replaced. Do all the +2 TF front springs and shocks allow this? Seems like the shocks are about 1-2 inches too long. The rear is still SLS, so no issues there with the spacers and shocks.

It is a real bummer wrestling the front springs back into place everytime the front tires come off the ground.

Yeah, unfortunately they can dislocate. It's really something that you want(for offroad), but can be a pain.

There are a couple ways to combat this, the best probably being the inverted cone. This is what my front suspension looks like -

You can see the gold inverted cone right below the shock tower, it's made by terrafirma -

DISLOCATION CONE FRONT PAIR DEFENDER, DISCOVERY I & RANGE ROVER CLASSIC, TF501 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts

And my rear is retained at the top SPRING RETAINER REAR PR HEAVY DUTY, TF506, SRP106 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts

And cones at the bottom -

I do not do flexing that would require movement more than the length of the spring. Would sticking a stock length shock in there be all that bad? Terrafirrma or another company make a shock that does not allow this to happen? Old Man EMU?

Really do not understand having to add more parts to the tower just to make shocks that seem too long work.

Well you have +2" springs, so you'll likely ruin the standard height shocks pretty quickly. The shocks are exactly 2" longer than the stock ones to match the additional height of the spring.

Understood. But the stock shocks did not allow the springs to come loose. I do really like the way these shocks and springs handle and ride. Just wish the shocks were a better fit for me.

I'm not sure if you compared the TF springs to the originals when you removed them, but they're pretty close to the same length, just thicker coils. That is the reason your springs didn't come out on the original shocks.

Ok, they seemed longer. But that may have been due to sagging. I probably did not take note of the length. Thanks.

it would probably be nice if this could be marketed as a set. Springs, retainers, cones, shocks, spacers for the cross member, etc. I am learning the hard way.

I hear you, it's a pain to have to source it all separately!
